Prayer for thanksgiving

Prayer thanksgiving 24 June 07

O God who calls us by our name, Thank you for your sacrificial love given to us, when you call us by our name. Thank you for your love to us When we feel alone and bereft. Thank you for your spirit, which evokes faith, and builds community. Forgive us when we mock your call. Forgive us if we ignore the call to care for those at the edge. Forgive us if our love is too shallow or too hesitant.

Be with us when we are at the edge of our sanity, or when we see people who lose it when they are under pressure. Sharpen our sense of responsibility to those who are vulnerable. May we have the courage to share our wealth and our gifts, to those who are trapped in poverty or cruelty. Be with us in the times of happiness, and in the times of sadness, and anchor our sense of your eternal love guiding and sustaining us in all that we do, through Jesus our guide and friend, Amen.
